The Barrière group retains management of the Casino Barrière in DinardIt was with no great surprise that the Dinard municipal council, meeting in ordinary session this Monday, December 16, renewed the DSP to its current beneficiary, a subsidiary of the Barrière group .

The Breton casino is thus starting a new 15-year period under the control of France’s number one casino, with major development work planned. The new contract should also allow the city to generate substantial revenue.

A satisfactory collaboration

The management of the Dinard Casino by the Société Nouvelle du Palais d’Emeraude over the past few years appears to have won the approval of the entire municipal council of the Breton town. Indeed, the councilors unanimously decided to renew their trust in the company for another fifteen years.

The vote, which took place on December 16, was an opportunity for Mayor Jean-Claude Mahé to express his satisfaction with the excellent collaboration between the company and the municipality. According to the city’s leading citizen, the Barrière Group subsidiary has successfully met the various challenges it has faced in recent years.

He particularly mentioned the work carried out during the G7 summit in the city last April. « Interesting and rapid, » the work actively contributed to the town’s attractiveness.

2020-2035, a new era

The new DSP contract between the municipality of Dinard and the Barrière Group will start on May 1, 2020 for a period of 15 years . The objective of such a long-term collaboration is to enable the delegate to make its future investments profitable over the period .

For the city, this contract is a guarantee of substantial revenue . Indeed, the casino operator will have to pay €350,000 each year in rent, in addition to the tax on the Gross Gaming Revenue generated by the establishment.

Under this contract, the applicable rate has been capped at 15%. This should allow the Breton municipality to collect an average of €1.34 million each year, to which must be added approximately €433,000 per year, representing the share of tax revenue paid by the State to the municipality.

In addition, the new contract provides for the casino’s participation in the city’s cultural and artistic activities to the tune of €50,000 per year. In addition, the new contract also includes an annual contribution of €12,540 to support the Dinard Film Festival. With all this, the municipality is expected to generate approximately €32 million over the 15-year term of the contract.

Nearly 4 million euros of work

For the Barrière group, this contract renewal comes with another major promise: that of carrying out relatively significant work intended to increase the activity of the casino, and of the city more generally.

The French number 1 should thus invest a whopping 3.78 million euros to beautify the terrace and roof of the current building, reinstall the current restaurant on the second floor and expand its gaming area.

A renovation of the performance hall with thermal insulation repairs, as well as an adaptation of the premises to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility are also planned in this budget.
