Hard Rock Casino GuitarJust a few days ago, a Clark County commission in the state of Nevada gave the final green light to the Hard Rock International group’s project that will bring a significant change to the face of the Las Vegas Strip .

In fact, this operator will be able to replace the famous artificial volcano of the hotel-casino The Mirage with a 36-story tower in the shape of an electric guitar.

An opening planned for 2025

Currently, one of the most iconic hotel-casinos operated by Hard Rock International is located in Florida. It’s the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, which is famous, among other things, for its hotel tower shaped like an electric guitar.

Well, such a building is also planned to be built in place of the Mirage’s artificial volcano on the Strip.

Now that this project has just received the final necessary approval from Clark County, it can finally be realized. This is expected in 2025, although no further details have been provided.

Within its walls, this future hotel tower will house 600 rooms and suites, restaurants, and a games room. It will also feature six light beams that will rise 6,000 meters into the sky to represent the strings on the neck of an electric guitar.

A name change expected during 2024

As a reminder, the Hard Rock International group, which belongs to the Seminole Native American tribe of Florida, acquired the operating rights to The Mirage hotel-casino from MGM Resorts International for $1.08 billion at the end of 2022.

However, the land remains the property of the real estate investment trust Vici Properties, which leases it to Hard Rock International for an initial $90 million per year.

Under the terms of the sales agreement, MGM Resorts International retains The Mirage name and trademark. The buyer, Hard Rock International, still has the right to use them for a period of three years.

He recently announced that he plans to continue using it until 2024. This should give him enough time to rebrand the hotel-casino as Hard Rock, before opening his new electric guitar-shaped tower the following year.

In addition, the operator plans to renovate the entire gaming facility, including the existing 3,044 rooms and suites. It will also build a new performance hall with a capacity of 3,000 people, as well as additional restaurants, shops, and pools.

The timeline for all these different projects has not yet been released. This is expected to happen during the current year.

The Mirage hotel and casino opened on November 22, 1989. Its impact was remarkable. It launched the modern Las Vegas, restoring the tourist numbers the city had lost in the 1970s.
