The Barrière group, France’s leading casino group (in terms of revenue, not the number of establishments, editor’s note), is opening its second casino in Egypt. The first was the El Gezirah Casino in Cairo, and the newest one is located on a large boat docked on the Nile.
This new casino is the sixth gaming establishment that the Barrière group has opened abroad. Indeed, the group, owned by Dominique Desseigne, owns three casinos in Switzerland, one in Ivory Coast, and two in Egypt. In total, this group owns 34 casinos, including six abroad !

A casino on a boat docked on the Nile
Unlike Cairo’s land-based Casino Barrière El Gezirah , the group’s new casino is located on a large boat docked on the Nile. With a surface area of 600 m², the gaming room offers breathtaking views of the river.
Featuring roulette, blackjack, and poker tables, as well as slot machines, the new Barrière Casino in Egypt is called « Le Pacha. » Indeed, Le Pacha Casino is the only gaming establishment located on the Nile. It is located in a tourist district close to international hotels such as the Ritz Carlton, Marriott, and the Rameze Hilton.
The Barrière group wants to conquer new markets and does not intend to stop there.

A Barrière casino in the heart of the Champs-Elysées?
The Barrière group has never hidden its ambitions to conquer new markets. This is evident with this second casino in Egypt. This group is at the helm of France’s first casino, the Enghien-les-Bains casino. The only gaming establishment within a 100-kilometer radius of Paris, the Enghien-les-Bains casino (Val d’Oise) is an exception. Moreover, starting in January 2018, Paris is experimenting with gaming clubs.
The latter will not be able to offer slot machines, roulette, or blackjack tables. However, games like poker, Punto Banco, and other variants of baccarat and mahjong will be tolerated in gaming clubs. So far, only three groups have expressed interest in opening their own gaming club in Paris: Raineau, Tranchant, and Partouche.
As for the Barrière group, it simply replies: « We will have a gaming club in Paris. » The most beautiful avenue in the world should have several gaming clubs. The Tranchant group will have its 2,000 m² gaming club « 100 meters from the Champs-Élysées. » As for the Barrière group, it continues its expansion beyond the borders of France and should have its brand in the very heart of Paris.
